This strip (and the next one) show the other Zeus. The Zeus who survived the wrath of Kronos, rallied the Cyclopes and Hundred-handers, and locked the Titans deep in the earth. The Zeus who defeated the giants in the Gigantomachy, and battled Typhon and Echidna. In short, he is not someone you mess with lightly.
It's sometimes difficult to reconcile Zeus, The Thunderer and Cloud Gatherer, Lord of the Sky, with Zeus, who begs Thetis to hide from his wife, and who seduces Hera by reeling of a list of other women he's slept with (both from the Iliad).
Up until now, my Zeus has been the latter, because this is a comic, and that version is more humourous, but this point seemed appropriate for the 'real' Zeus to come out. To my Zeus, at this point, it's not really a game any more. Prometheus has seriously challenged his authority, and that can't stand.
There's also the issue of Prometheus' "heroic sacrifice" which I depict here. This is of course a modern plot device - Greek 'Heroes' were concerned with glory and booty (usually shortly followed by death), not personal ideals or causes. And, at any rate, an immortal like Prometheus couldn't be a hero even if he wanted to, since true Greek heroism requires honour in the face of certain death. Like Zeus' humourous side though, it's a useful storytelling conceit.
